Greg Schwirtz
Weaving, Stained Glass, Fused and Lamp Work Glass, Jewelry

Greg's primary focus is weaving. He started weaving in the 1970’s after visiting a weaving studio in the Midwest. A combination of the mechanics and creativity of fiber interlacement opened this art form to him. Color and texture combined with the feel of the yarns is what inspires Greg to weave. He produces mostly scarves, shawls and ruanas using rayon, cotton, wool, silk and other natural fiber . He has taught weaving and been in numerous juried shows.

Greg's interest in glass began a few years before he retired. He now creates simple yet elegant stained glass panels. It seemed natural to move from the stained glass to working with hot glass. Torch worked glass beads and fused glass followed. Greg creates beads which his wife, Deb, combines with commercial beads for one-of-a-kind necklaces. He also sells individual beads.

Working together, Greg and Deb design fused glass pendants and earrings using dichroic and non-dichroic glass.

Deb Schwirtz

Weaving, Felting, Knitting and Fused Glass Jewelry

Beginning at a young age, Deb’s interest in fiber began with sewing and knitting. When she learned to weave in the 1970’s it seemed like a natural progression into the world of fiber.

She still sews, knits (mostly hats) and weaves, but has gone one step farther into felting.

Needle-felted pins are an outgrowth of this embellishment process. She has created a number of felted pins and uses beads to dress them up.

Beading is also one of Deb’s interests. She creates earrings and necklaces, sometimes using her husbands’ hand-made beads. She also works with Greg to design fused glass pendants and earrings. (

Deb weaves wool fabric, constructs the fabric into purses and felts them in the washing machine. She then adds some type of embellishment such as beads or needle-felted decoration.
